In response to the increased need for minority- and women -owned business to have a stronger understanding of brand development, product marketing and sales pitching NIBCAA launched the Small Business Development Center.
Annually, NIBCAA hosts the Gullah Celebration which provides opportunities more than 100 small businesses and service providers. Of those businesses and service providers 62% were women owned in 2014 and 67% in 2015. In addition to the month-long marketing and sales positioning platform, NIBCAA now facilitates a 3-month series of training programs that provides the participating businesses and others the opportunities to learn best practice techniques to develop more sustainable businesses, to benefit their families and the local economy.
Based on the data collected from programs offered over the past three years NIBCAA has developed the series of training programs that provides small businesses and the community-at- large the opportunities to learn best practice techniques, benefit from a professional marketing services that are specific to their product or service offering, financial management training that supports the needs of small businesses and organizational development services that can support them in developing more sustainable businesses, to benefit their families and the local economy.
